You prefer the beautiful lie as opposed to the ugly truth? I was just the messenger...Theilmann is the one who caused the destruction....not me. I just reported it. I'm kinda like Julian Assange....lol Beautiful lie vs ugly truth ---- I can handle both. I just had a hard time stomaching the methods you employed. It reminded me of reporters shoving microphones in peoples faces after natural disasters asking them how they felt, even a year later. Yet, you expressed some regret on how some things were handled. This shows you are not beyond redemption. Lord knows I could use some also. Sometimes I just flip the coin to see who's perspective I'm going to consider and try to find a place in the middle. Do I look at it from your 'bottom up' approach or Jake's 'top down'? It gets rather boring staring at the same side of the coin everyday. And like you - I question my sanity for embarking here - even thought I feel its purpose.. Don't forget the moral of the story with Julian Assange, my friend. @scarz: Thank you for confirming what I already knew about you. Primarily, that you have never used a 'SOCK'.... We are most likely in the minority.

Bren is essentially a decent man. A little credulous, but hell- that's no great crime. My feeling is that he was ill-served by those he trusted. The essence of critical enquiry can be summed up in one succinct phrase: 'consider everything/ believe nothing.' Once belief is allowed to substitute for rational process that process becomes frozen and trivial. And often hysterical...

Welcome home, Mur.... What would constitute a breach of your 'Little as possible' approach? Can you give some examples where you would draw the lines for the sake of 'proper' discourse? Clearly, total freedom leads to Anarchy and total control leads to suppression. Perhaps you could lay out some examples of what would be a breechable offense? How about no porn? As little moderation as possible. Difficult but not impossible Either we are adults or we aren't. But ufology is about opinions and research. We aren't going to agree most of the time. I agree with Andy. Moderation inhibits free expression. One of the reasons for the OMF implosion was its ridiculous use of thought police to eradicate dissent and to manipulate discussion into non-productive paths. I see the same paradigm replaying itself at TOP. How could it be otherwise since the place was established by the very same thought police who destroyed OMF? I do feel that even Bren, at his most clear-headed, bridled against censorship and moderation. He is an anarchist by nature but a bit impatient by inclination. To his credit- and Andy and I may disagree on this- he allowed such nonsense as foreskin's Princess Evil assholery to continue despite his own disgust at the ridiculous nature of the 'revelation.' He permitted all the insipid bible thumping that so suffused the forum out of a sense of fairness to the many thumpers on-board even while scrupulously retaining his own sense of agnosticism. But he also made the fatal mistake of turning the day to day running of the affairs of the board over to a coterie of closed minded gauleiters focused not on fostering an atmosphere of free expression but rather on consolidating and wielding whips and power over an increasingly submissive membership.

To Illustrate my point I give you the very last post that a woman named Dove was allowed to make at TOP before she was abruptly silenced by the gauleiter in charge by locking the thread... What exactly was her great crime? Raising inconvenient issues? Re: Notice! You are hereby terminated by the Borg amkon.net/showthread.php/21760-Notice!-You-are-hereby-terminated-by-the-Borg/page300

Warm greetings to my friends at free120forum.proboards.comA big thank you for those who take the time and trouble to visit my forum of the above. There is another essay which I have just posted. It concerns the looming confrontation in the Middle East viz Iran. Will the United States military and its coalition of willing persue a course of peace or war in the Middle East? What about the lives of those young American GIs who might be asked to fight another war to defend "global freedom." The answers could be found if you visit my forum. But if you disagree with my opinion, then please tell the forum and guests as to why? And it is appreciated! See you there, pal. A very good morning and God bless, folks. Greatwaller ;D

How about something specific?

Bren is basically understandable, although at times he could disagree with posters. He is not unkind but to ensure peace and harmony at OMF, he has to take displinary action which others views at dracronic! Of late, I feel, that he has been let down and shouldn't blame him for the shortcomings if any for the closure of OMF. We all should shoulder some responsibilities in this regard. Let's hope that Bren would learn another lesson in human nature and its complexities. This reminds me of the story of how by pleasing the critics, the old and his boy together with their donkey they carry fell into the river...! Cheers; GW ;D

There is a proximate cause for the implosion of OMF. Fouche and Foreskin and other butthurts caused Proboards to pull it after making tens of despicable and disingenuous complaints out of a personal sense of pique. It's really as simple as that, GW.

Glad you stopped by! linda Dear Linda; Indeed, I do appreciate your very kind and inspirational words. You make my day, friend. I was up this morning at three to attend to my forum affairs. Time flies...but one thing I shall never forget...rememberance of those that we have spent time together at OMF. You, Cys, Scarz, Dan Smith and others too. I learn a lot from you too and I will do my best for my forum. I need help and encouragment to keep it going... Look forward to your continuous guidance, support and visit. Cheers; GW ;D

Fouche and Foreskin and other butthurts caused Proboards to pull it after making tens of despicable and disingenuous complaints out of a personal sense of pique. It's really as simple as that, GW. Dear Toon; There were shortcomings and neglects at OMF, especially to those missing or misdirected threads that members complain about. Then accusations and finger points started to fly. Then there is a theory about a ghost embedded within the system. The last few days at OMF were particularly trying and hectic with only Cys, Agent 99 and myself trying to cope with the members' requirements. At the back of our mind, OMF was indeed existing on borrowed time. We just hope that the ship we are sailing in wouldn't go without a fight to right the sails and helm. But when I checked in Sunday afternoon...OMF was no more! Not only was I felt sad but I was in a mild shock...now on hindsight...it would take a miracle to save OMF. A lesson is learned and we all who were once members at OMF should turn a new leaf and carry on the best we can with our own resources and this board here that are willing to accomodate our views and share them out. Thank you. GW ;D

This was brought to my attention by Dove:
During the interim he and Foreskin and others set about to salvage their own ridiculous posted content there. Why? Because they believed that their concerted effort to sabotage Bren's forum were about to prove successful. Shameless bullshit, in my humble opinion.

There in lies the misunderstanding I think....Jake described yesterday how all the Admins were observing the various stories brought to them with interest....and how they knew that they couldn't all be true.... That illustration shows us that Open Minds Forum was not about belief OR rational process but rather about how I have defined for everyone here: Communication. Communication tells us things that belief and rational process cannot. It is an initiator and a stepping stone toward eventual Disclosure which employs belief and rational process. Communication is only the precurser What I've seen is a continual mistake to attempt to fit a square peg in a round hole...everyone has tried to treat Communication like Disclosure...two different animals representing different stages of the process toward understanding or perceiving different parties. People have been too quick....if everyone slowed down then Communication would have the chance to eventually EVOLVE into attempts at Disclosure...but they never get that shot but everyone tries to take the reins and drive it forward rather than allow the Communicators to make that decision, and if there are mediators involved, then mediators to express that the source(s) are thus ready to do so. The methods that have been employed instead is like walking into a pen full of hungry tree climbing goats with a bowl of grain without spilling...and getting so jumped on that it spills everywhere and then your effort is ruined and they are then left trying to pick the pieces up out of the dirt, one by one...and they end up with sand colic for having gotten more sand than feed.
